TEAM The Conjugate Thinkers: Mobile PA

Imagine handphones becoming our best personal assistant and adviser to improve our lifestyle.

Idea:

Scenario 1: A man walks into an appliance store, wanting a new fridge, washing machine, and air-conditioning unit for his new home, he is environmentally conscious and wants to be green without spending too much. He tries looking through the specifications and green ratings, but the consumption values are abstract and not very useful for him. He finally sees the special coloured barcode, takes out his phone, activates the camera, shakes it, and scans the barcode. Phone processes the barcode, opens up an application, identifies the fridge, displays energy consumption and green information, he taps on the watt value and prompts him for the amount of usage. He taps 24h and the application calculates and displays the electricity bill cost of $5 per month, as well as the amount of CO2 created, he taps on the CO2 icon and it changes to the equivalent distance of CO2 produced of driving his car, it shows 3km to offset, he taps it and it informs his car. A smile on his face.

Scenario 2: A teenager walks into a convenience store to get some tidbits, he takes up a packet and sees the special coloured barcode, he flashes his phone out, activates the camera, shakes the phone, and scan the barcode. The application opens up, and display the nutritional information with colourful graphics, like carbohydrates: 2 bowls of rice, fats: 2 teaspoon, salt: 5 teaspoon, calories: 500kCal, and with it, his personalized current daily recommended intake percentage for the day. He will exceed todays salt intake if he finishes the tidbit. He taps on it and the application provides dietary advice. At the end of the week, the cumulative dietary information is converted into a weekly exercising workout for the boy to offset his excess calorie intake.

Scenario 3: A busy working adult visits the doctor for some mediation, and at the pharmacy, the mediation label comes with the special coloured barcode, he scans it with his phone, and automatically, it checks for allergies, and conflicting medications, and provides a simple description of the drug, with its side effects and dosage information. He taps on the dosage information and a Schedule to calendar option comes up, he selects it, and it automatically creates reminders at the correct timings to take his medication, with the dosage information.

From helping you to:
calculate your nutrition,
create a exercising workout for you,
choosing energy efficient appliances,
calculating your carbon-footprint,
be reminded to take your medication,
detecting if you are allergic to some of the ingredients in a particular food or medicine,
helping people with special needs (diabetics/allergic/obese),
and much more,
all in the most convenient and automated way possible.

Everyone has a mobile phone, so why not use it.

A barcode like the Zapcode or Microsofts Tag can be encoded with useful information, when scanned with our phones, an integrated application will process, calculate and relay useful information, and automate tasks, integrate different infrastructure together, ensuring total Future Mobility in the way we live.

  3. It seems that you have not fully grasp our idea, and thus the inaccurate depiction of our project in your comments, but I cannot blame you for that..
