We call our product “D!scöver” as it provides a complete and unique discovery voyage for all who use it.
Our vision for the this device includes
Touch-screen functions
o for user-friendliness

Device pick-up point at airport
o for convenience, thus making the product more likely to gain a larger audience/market
o tourists may rent, buy or return the devices to specific counters next to Arrival and Departure Halls respectively.

Contains videos, pictures, music, games
o learn about the history, facts and figures of a specific location
o experience festival, celebrations , events and different seasons conditions
o learn local etiquette, rules , culture

From the GPS system and maps
o never get lost when wandering about on your own
o know the best dining, tourist attractions, photography spots
o know more about the place/building you are at
o know the weather conditions/places to avoid  in the area
o know upcoming events/offers
o how to get from place to place , shortest / cheapest/ most enjoyable route
       • includes traffic updates
o able to find all the necessary facilities
       • toilets, ATMs, police stations

From the internet system:
o contact with friends and family while on the go
o book reservations (hotels) /Buy tickets (zoos, attractions, planes etc.)
o local news, flight delays etc.

Phonebook system
o be able to call or contact emergency services (hospitals, fire brigade etc) in case of emergency
o contact people you know in the area

Dictionary
o learn the local language to communicate
o voice recognition and immediate translation from local to the user’s preferred language
o teaches words to use for common scenarios
       • purchasing food /tickets , asking for instructions

This list is not exhaustive. More applications and functions may be added to this device at the discretion and innovation of stakeholders involved. Stakeholders include tourist attractions, restaurants or even the tourists themselves.

Advantages over current systems for such applications
Currently, most tourists would use a guidebook in order to get around in a foreign location. Nevertheless,

guidebooks are difficult and expensive to update,
o hence rendering them incapable of adapting to the fast-changing environment of tourism, particularly in cities like Singapore.

our device collaborates with various associations affiliated with tourism
o providing a more effective method of information dissemination to tourists

our device is connected to real-time changes in the environment
o projecting changes in the tourism environment promptly, giving tourists the most fulfilling experience available at that moment in time.

our device is not restricted to the tourism market
o locals may also benefit from its functions, including but not limited to, buying tickets, traffic reports and public transport updates and options
