TEAM Dual-No-Kia: ROBOT PHONE

Our team came up with a theme Robot phone for our entry. Under this theme, we will cover a few segments of our ideal phone. The segments are as follows:

1)Security Control

2)Satellite Usage

3)Friend

4)Universal Control

5)Translator

6)Charging methods

For the Security control of our ideal phone, we came up with the idea of using fingerprint sensor as a lock for the phone. This means that only the owners fingerprint and 5 other fingerprints can be used to unlock the phone. The phone will only be able to recognize up to 5 other fingerprints designated by the owner. The master fingerprint, which is the fingerprint of the owner, must be used to create the sub-fingerprint accounts for the phone. This makes sure that no other person can use the phone if the owner loses his phone accidentally as everyones fingerprints are unique. Also, some functions of the phone, like contacts and messages, can be locked up and can only be unlocked by the main users fingerprint. This ensures that the privacy of the owner will not be intruded by other people using his phone.

For the Satellite usage of our ideal phone, the phone will be able to receive the most accurate and latest news on weather and traffic updates in all parts of the world. Also, the phone will be able to connect to the local television channels and they can watch television for entertainment purpose through the usage of satellite. A hidden antenna will be placed in the phone to connect to the satellite

For the friend function, our ideal phone will work as a friend to you when youre bored. Picture this: you just had the worst day of your life you just quarreled with your girlfriend/boyfriend, you got fired from your work and your family members and friends just dont understand you. And aha! here comes our phone, packed with sensors to sense for chemicals released by the owners body when the owners mood varies.Basically, our phone will work as a robot friend to you but we added the emotion factors to it so that it can be more of a realistic human being instead of merely just a robot without feelings.

For the Universal Control, our ideal phone will act as a control to almost all domestic household electronics, be it the washing machine or air-condition. Also it will tune your household electronics to the way that suites you best according to your settings that you have manually set to it. For example, the settings for air-condition may be tuned to 25oC by the owner manually. The phone will remember this setting and use it whenever you turn the air-condition on using the phone. This works for television volume, microwaves temperature etc. The phone will control the household electronics through the usage of satellite, where commands will be sent by the owner of the phone to the electronic devices via a data portal (in this case, satellite).

For the translator, this is specially built-in for the traveller-type owner. One will not have to spend hundreds of dollars learning a language in order to travel to that country. This translator works this way, It translates what you speak to the language the other party speaks, and vice-versa. Then, the robot phone will project out the translated words through the usage of its built-in speakers Thus the owner will not have to worry about communication problems when travelling to a foreign country. The language this phone is able to identify and translate are those that can be found in a typical computer.

For Charging methods, the owner can have 2 ways of charging: Either by usage of solar panels or by normal phone chargers. The solar panels, which will be used as the back cover for the phone, will act as a portable charger that converts light energy to chemical energy to be stored in the phone for daily usage. This way, the owner will not have to worry about flat batteries while out on the go. For example, when they are driving, they can just place the phone with the back facing the front mirror of the car and let it charge. Furthermore, it is Eco-friendly and will save on electricity bills.
